The development of this impressive object, depicting a city in the typical style of the artist, began in 1973 and was finally completed in 1979. The complex printing process, for which specific machines had to be designed, consisted of 61 printing operations with 13 screen printing inks and shiny metal foils in seven different tones. A green tinted plate was added to augment the long-distance perspective effect in the center. The result is a fascinating visual effect from the interplay of harmonious colors, transparency, shimmering metal and three- dimensional effect of depth.
